In the U.S. state of Minnesota, the city of Minneapolis serves as both the county seat and the most populous municipality in Hennepin County. There are thirteen lakes, wetlands, the Mississippi River, streams, and waterfalls within the city’s boundaries. In addition, the city is home to a number of waterfalls. Timber and flour milling gave rise to Minneapolis’s reputation as the world’s leading milling center in the early days of the city. It is situated on both sides of the Mississippi River and is next to Saint Paul, which is the capital city of the state of Minnesota.
The city of Minneapolis is home to one of the most extensive public park systems in the United States. The Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway links several of the city’s parks together. Trails for walking and biking can be found in many different parts of the city. The city’s cultural attractions include four major sports teams, in addition to the Guthrie Theater and First Avenue nightclub.
